About UUA
United Unattached Athletics (UUA) is a non-profit international athletics (track) organization with emphasis on enriching young minds by incorporating academics and athletics (specifically with middle distance runners) aspiration to help them maximize their potential and create a network of opportunities for them to become productive members of society. United Unattached Athletics (UUA) was established during the season of 2018-2019. UUA is tax-exempt under 501(c)3 of the IRS code as an affiliated non-profit organization.
Why the oxymoron “United” and “Unattached”? UUA promotes an environment with the flexibility and fluidity to be on a team for camaraderie and relay purpose, while still having the option to be independent or “unattached”. The big picture is to bring in athletes and coaches who may or may not want to be officially on a team to train together whenever it is advantageous and beneficial to respective parties. It is also to foster collaborative workouts with other unattached athletes when it is mutually beneficial. Coaches are empowered with complete liberty and independence to train “their” athletes as they deem fitting and per their own pay structure.
UUA is not your typical track and XC program. We differentiate ourselves from other programs in several ways. First, we train our champions with the mindset of long-term successes as adults as opposed to short term successes as youths. Second, we aim to develop our champions not just athletically but instead holistically (i.e., physically, mentally, and socially). That means working on them and recognizing their successes in the following 3 areas: athletics, academic, and career. And third, we are open to unconventional and personalized training programs with the realization that what may work for one athlete may not necessarily be effective for another.
During the season for Georgia, USA based runners, we practice at various locations in Dekalb, Rockdale, Newton, and Henry counties to allow our athletes opportunities to gain mental, physical, and psychological benefits from training on various terrain depending on our training cycle.
For those on middle/high school teams, our coaching philosophy is to work closely with their respective school coaches (whenever possible) and to have an open line of communication to ensure our athletes are maximizing their potential with both programs. However, if school coach is not fully on board with the athlete training with UUA during the season, it is recommended that an interested athlete wait until the school season is over before practicing with UUA to avoid any potential conflict with the two training programs.
At UUA, our tagline is Academics + Athletics = SUCCESS, as believe true success comes from a balance of physical and intellectual development. We are dedicated to having athletes excelling both on the track and in the classroom. We offer a supporting environment where our athletes can develop their running skills while still prioritizing their academic development. Our commitment is to foster well-rounded individuals who can excel in various areas of life.
UUA Objective, Mission, and Vision
The big picture is to encourage middle distance runners who may or may not want to officially be on a team to train together whenever they wish for optimal performances. It is also to foster collaborative workouts with other unattached athletes when it is mutually beneficial.
- For those on middle/high school teams, our coaching philosophy is to work closely with their school coaches and have an open line of communication to ensure the athletes are maximizing their potential with both programs
- Emphasis on academic as well as athletic opportunities
- Create an avenue and network opportunity for internship and career developments for scholar-athletes
- Create sponsorship opportunities with organizations and corporations
- Advertise opportunities for vendors and partnerships
- Promote international collaboration (e.g., countries of representation of athletes/parents) with emphasis on training middle distance runners in the United States, Nigeria, and Jamaica.
- For scholar-athletes in Nigeria and Jamaica, the goal is to advocate and paint realistic goals in terms of scholarships abroad. We emphasize that through dedicated work both on the track and academically, there are great opportunities for them to capitalize on in their respective countries with our support and growing network. Furthermore, we want to do our part to help reverse not only the academic/career brain drain effect over the past 40-50 years in those respective countries, but also the athletic talent drain effect with many of their top athletes opting to compete and represent other countries.
Sport is Education & Education is Sport

Sport plays a crucial and vital role in the overall development of the child. It is the only aspect of human development that addresses the three (3) domains of education objectives: the psychomotor, cognitive and affective, which makes for all round development.
Sport also serves as a great platform to teach young students important life skills such as responsibility, discipline, hard work, commitment, teamwork and other values that aid their evolution into well-rounded citizens who are ready for life as professionals and model citizens.
School sport is the bedrock of sustainable sports development geared towards using sports as a tool for discovery, early-stage development of talented athletes and the critical first step in preparing student athletes for a possible career in sports. These career options are not limited to being athletes, but other ancillary fields such as Sports Management, Sports Medicine, Sports Media, Sports Tourism, Sports Gaming/Lottery, E-Sports, Sports Analytics, Sports Arbitration, Administration, Sports Marketing, Physiotherapy, Athlete Management, Officiating and others.
Education and sports are complementary to each other. This is consistent with UUA’s mission and vision is to build a strong foundation and quality training program for a sustainable and viable sports culture, and a vibrant talent development at the grassroots/school level.
